A Night to Remember

Last night, I attended the book signing for Carine Roitfeld's "Irreverent" at Book Marc.

Too bad all I can ever muster up whenever I meet her is, "You're my favorite!"  She was really sweet & cordial.  I love that she asks your name & then concludes with "Nice to meet you, ___!"

The thing that strikes you most is how pretty her skin is.  She looks much younger than her 57 years.  I would say she looked at most late 30's.  And, of course, her stunning boots!

well duh...I see now that you HAVE to get them!

The Good News

 
Emmanuelle Alt has been named the next Editor-in-Chief at Paris "Vogue".  She previously held the title of Fashion Director at the publication & worked closely with Carine Roitfeld even before working at "Vogue."   Because of her tenure there, I suspect & hope that the magazine will maintain the tone that it's been delivering for the past decade.

I have been a fan of her "borrowed from the boys" with killer shoes style for some time & here are a few of my favorite looks.  I'm still saddened by Carine Roitfeld's resignation, but this is the next best thing.  In addition to her role at "Vogue," she consults on some of my favorite lines like Isabel Marant & Balmain.  She has major access & major influence.  You know how cool she is?  She's the one that sent Balmain to Michael Jackson.  I can't wait to see what's in store for us in April when her first issue drops.

The Anti-Anna

One of my favorite women in the world to look at is the former Editor-in-Chief of Paris "Vogue," Carine Roitfeld.  Her sense of style is extraordinary & the visuals she has created for Gucci & "Vogue" are edgy, but remain stylish without looking contrived.  She mixes luxury with fashion, but also makes it real--it never seems forced or manufactured & it's always relevant & not the same old jumping girl in front of a screen.  For those interested, this is one of my favorite articles written about her. 

Carine recently resigned from her post at Paris "Vogue" & I have been saddened that I might not have access to her work as easily.  I emulate her in all regards, as a career woman, as a fashion stylist & even a wife & mother.  I think what really strikes me is that even at age 56, she's not "toned" it down because she is of a certain age or "a mother."  It brings me hope that when I'm 56, I can remain true to myself (whatever that may be).  I could still retain my identity.  My experiences would all add to me & not take away from me.
